the pupusa
Yesterday my mom, my sister and I went to the Brooklyn Flea Market. It was in the Williamsburg Clock Tower in Downtown Brooklyn. The Flea has a floor for shopping, and another floor for food vendors. I was excited to go to the food floor.
When we got there, we saw a pupusa vendor, a sea food vendor and a taco vendor. We ate two cheese pupusas, a sweet Maine shrimp roll, a lobster roll, and a fish taco. We shared everything. My favorite thing was the lobster roll. It tasted like a delicacy. Sweet Maine shrimp are small, and they are only in season for about 8 weeks each year. The rolls came from the Red Hook Lobster Pound.
Pupusas are small, flat cornmeal cakes stuffed with meat, cheese, or veggies and slapped on the grill for a hot, steamy snack. We got them from Solere's pupusas, which is usually in the Red Hook ball fields. It is nice of them to come to the Brooklyn Flea.
We also had dessert: lemon Merengue pie. My mom got two dozen cupcakes for a party she was going to. It was amazing. They came from Kumquat Cupcakery.
